QWP expresses deep grief over flood damages in KP

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Saturday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) due to severe flash floods.
Aftab Sherpao demanded the provincial government to declare the affected districts as calamity-hit and said that the affected families should be given safe places immediately.
QWP chief while visiting the flood-affected areas of Charsadda district instructed its party workers to assist the government relief activities and reach out people still troubled due heavy rain and flood in the district.
Aftab Sherpao said that the recent floods were no less than a tragedy that has wiped out hundreds of villages, communication systems, houses.
He said the provincial and central governments should take pragmatic steps to get the province out of its trouble times, adding that the province suffered unprecedented losses as waters have submerged orchards and settlements in many districts.
Provision of relief facilities like food, medicine and tents should be provided to flood affected population, he added.
He said that the natural calamity has completely destroyed people, cattle, houses, infrastructure and crops.
Mr Sherpao said that the supply of food, medicines and other relief items to the victims should be ensured and the affected families should be shifted to safe places.
He demanded that the families of the deceased should be given immediate financial compensation and the damages to houses, business centers, ready crops and gardens should be remedied.
However, he lamented over the lackluster response of the provincial government in testing times and said floods have completely destroyed our infrastructure and canal system, but the government of KP was still reluctant to take practical action.
He said that due to the destruction of Munda headworks, the farmers of Charsada, Mardan and Swabi will face a lot of difficulties in irrigating their lands, so the government should take immediate steps in this regard.
Party’s provincial chairman Sikander Hayat Khan Sherpao, party’s provincial and district officials and workers were also present on this occasion.
