A senior police officer was killed when security forces and Kurram police came under heavy gunfire during a joint raid on the house of a proscribed Zainabiyoun Brigade commander in the Nasti Kot area of Ruza police station jurisdiction on Thursday.
According to sources, more than 20 vehicles carrying a contingent of security forces and police personnel participated in the operation targeting the residence of Abid Hussain alias Tehran Turi. As the raiding teams approached, Zainabiyoun Brigade members allegedly opened indiscriminate fire, sparking an intense exchange of gunfire lasting over half an hour.
Additional SHO Ruza police station identified as Qaiser Hussain, was fatally shot injured during the clash and later died.
Following the incident, the security forces and police withdrew from the area without making further arrests or seizures.
The situation in the region remains tense, with heightened security and continuous monitoring. Local residents have urged the government to launch a decisive operation against the banned Zainabiyoun Brigade, the banned terrorists group, to restore peace in the area. It may be added here that like the other parts of merged districts Kurram District is also severely affected due to sectarianism and militancy. In recent past dozens of residents have been killed and injured while the whole market places were also set on fire by terrorists. Several jirgas rounds of Sunni and Shiat sects were also held to restore peace and government mostly disarmed residents but could not stopped violence and attacks on each others.
