Ratio of corona positive cases, mortality rate come down

Advisor to Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Ajmal Khan Wazir said on Tuesday that ratio of corona positive cases has reduced to 15 percent and death ratio has also dropped from 5.2 percent to 3.6 percent.
He was talking to media persons during his visit to the airport where he was briefed about the arrangements made for the arrival and departure of passengers amid COVID-19.
Ajmal Wazir said that so far a total of 24,785 passengers have arrived homeland via Bacha Khan International Airport through 162 flights while 2,754 passengers left for different countries.
Wazir stated that 14 more dead bodies of overseas Pakistanis have been brought back to the country which brought the tally to 78. He said that well-trained medical staff, including 13 doctors, has been deputed at airport who are regularly monitoring and providing health facilities to incoming and outgoing passengers.
The advisor stated that since April, 48,190 persons have been screened which included the airport staff and passengers, adding that as per standard operating procedures (SOPs), the entry of non-passengers have been banned as a precautionary measure to stem the spread of coronavirus. He lauded the performance of airport management and staff during COVID-19.
While talking about the medical capacity of hospitals, Ajmal Wazir said that a total of 200 hospitals across the province have been reserved for corona patients which contain 5,440 beds, adding that the newly built Women & Children Hospital Charsadda, which contain 50 beds, and Nishtarabad Hospital having capacity of 58 beds, allocated for corona patients, would be inaugurated soon by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
He further said that, at present 50 percent of beds reserved for corona patients are vacant in hospitals across the province whereas 63 patients are on ventilator.
Talking about smart lockdown, Wazir said that smart lockdown has been implemented in total of 244 areas having population of 883,390. He said that movement of people has been restricted in smart lockdown areas to curtail the spread of virus. He added that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan is himself monitoring the steps being taken against coronavirus.
