On the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, the Rawalpindi Traffic Police have devised a comprehensive traffic plan to keep alternative routes operational and ensure public convenience during the Peshawar Road Remodeling Project.
Over 250 traffic officers and personnel will perform duties across three shifts to maintain smooth traffic flow.
The Peshawar Road Remodeling Project is set to officially commence tomorrow, September 8 (Tuesday). During the construction work, traffic will be diverted to alternative roads at various points.
Traffic Diversion Details:
From Saddar to Peshawar: Traffic heading from Saddar to Peshawar will be diverted at Abid Majid Turn onto Abid Majid Road. From there, vehicles can use MH Gate No. 5, proceed to Sher Khan Chowk, Qasim Market Chowk, and then utilize the service road to reach Peshawar.
From Range Road to Saddar and No. 22: Citizens traveling from Range Road to Saddar and No. 22 can reach their destinations via Sher Khan Chowk, MH Gate No. 5, and Khattak Chowk.
From Peshawar to Saddar: Traffic coming from Peshawar to Saddar will be able to enter Saddar by using the service road via Allahabad Turn, Hali Road, and opposite Rafi Mall.
CTO’s Statement: Speaking on the occasion, CTO Farhan Aslam acknowledged that road users would face temporary inconvenience during the project, but emphasized that it would provide long-term ease in the future. He appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic officers and personnel stationed at diversion points and on alternative routes.
He urged drivers to exercise patience and avoid double-lining and wrong parking to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
He further advised commuters to allocate an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys and choose alternative routes accordingly. The traffic police will keep citizens updated on the traffic situation on Peshawar Road through official social media pages and FM 88.6, providing real-time information throughout the project.
