RAWALPINDI (INP): A five member delegation headed by Acting President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI)Saqib Rafiq called on Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz at Foreign Office Islamabad here on Tuesday.
The delegation includes Saqib Rafiq, Aqil Obaid, Sohail Altaf, S. M Naseem and Kashif Shabir. During the meeting Pakistan Afghanistan Central Asian Trade Summit (PACTS), China Pakistan Economic Corridor and different trade routes for boosting exports came under discussion. Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz lauded the RCCI’s role in organizing trade exhibition in Pakistan and overseas, organizing PACTS and trade activities in the Rawalpindi region via Rawat Industrial Estate.
Sartaj Aziz said that China is exploring and working on different trade routes linking towards central Asian states and beyond. We must keep an eye on these emerging opportunities. Pakistan can take benefit from these trade routes. Transport sector should work hard and must be ready to meet future challenges and demands. He said traders should explore new avenues in the central Asian region and in Russia as these countries have big market and they prefer Pakistani products especially fruits and vegetables.
He urged RCCI to include fruit and vegetable stalls in their upcoming trade exhibitions in central Asian countries. RCCI Acting President Saqib Rafiq thanked Sartaj Aziz for the valuable comments and suggestions and requested to include Rawalpindi in government committees working on trade corridors in central Asian states. He said that RCCI will play its due role in exploring trade and business opportunities in the region.
