I will not step away from any sacrifice for the country’s development, interests and democracy, says PTI chief
Islamabad
Former prime minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has expressed his willingness to talk to anyone and take every step towards the development, interests, and democracy of Pakistan.
In a tweet on Thursday, he stated that he will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the sake of the country.
The statement comes just minutes after a district and sessions court in Islamabad dismissed his plea seeking the suspension of non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him in the Toshakhana case. The verdict, reserved by Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal, stated that the warrants could not be suspended on the basis of an undertaking.
The Islamabad police had attempted to arrest Imran Khan from his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park area on Tuesday, leading to skirmishes between the police and PTI supporters. The two sides battled for two days, with other law enforcement agencies joining the Islamabad police.
In a separate tweet, Imran Khan thanked the people of Pakistan who joined the struggle for “real freedom” and his party’s workers from all over Pakistan, including Lahore. He prayed that Allah Almighty would make the struggle and the journey towards true freedom successful.
Imran Khan’s statement on being willing to talk to anyone for Pakistan’s development and democracy comes at a time when the country is facing numerous challenges, including economic and political instability.
