SSP Operations Lieutenant Commander (Retd) Kashif Aftab Abbasi has said that all available resources were being utilized to maintain law and order in the provincial capital, adding that respects each other’s religions and sects was the beauty of Peshawar and police department will play key role in maintaining peace among all sects. He said that religious leaders play fundamental role in creating peaceful environment among citizen.
He made these remarks while meeting delegations of Imamia Jirga Peshawar and Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat here on Wednesday.
Speaking to the participants on the occasion of special meetings, SSP Operation appreciated the role of Imamia Jirga and Ahl-e-Sunnat and Jamaat in maintaining peace in the city and promoting inter-sectarian harmony.
He said that the religious leaders have always played a positive role in fostering an atmosphere of brotherhood, which was not to be underestimated, he added, adding that scholars belonging to all sects and schools of thought celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Yum Ali (R) has played a positive role on the occasion of Muharram and other religious ceremonies.
Mutual consultation with all stakeholders regarding the peaceful conduct of Muharram was underway and police department and other government departments have also been taken on board for the larger interest of the people, he added.
Addressing the participants, SSP Operations clarified that the police personnel were performing their duties with utmost honesty and diligence as per the wishes and aspirations of the people for peace in the city.
“ We appreciate the cooperation of all sects during Muharram who worked side by side with the police every year in spite of unfavorable conditions and maintained peace in the city,” SSP Operations said.
Akhundzada Muzaffar, Agha Sardar Ibrahim and Bakhtiar Ali Razi and other participants in the delegation of Imamia Jirga headed by Razand Ali Bangash and Maulana Farhanullah, Amjad Farooqi, Maulana. Bilal Qasmi and other participants were present.
SP Rural Saleem Abbas Kalachi and SP City Atiq Shah were also present on the occasion.
