Repatriation of illegal Afghan citizens is in progress

After the government launched a large-scale operation against illegal Afghan immigrants on 3rd April 2025, repatriation of Afghan Citizens Card (ACC) holders and other Afghan citizens, illegally residing in Pakistan, was in progress through Torkham border on Saturday.
Sharing details of the repatriated Afghanis Home and Tribal Affairs Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that 350 Afghan families, comprising 155 and 195 from Gujrat and Sargodha respectively arrived from Punjab on Friday and following necessary process, crossed to their home country.
In the same way 173 illegal families i.e. 142 families from Faisalabad and 31 families from Hafizabad moved to Afghanistan via Torkham on Saturday, it said.
All the expected deported Afghan families directly arrived at Torkham from Punjab from where they were sent back to Afghanistan after necessary measures, immigration official in Torkham said.
Most of the unlawful Afghanis were unhappy with the decision of sending them back to their country and declared it an initiative taken in hurry.
They argued that the deadline should be extended for them to settle matters of their movable and immovable properties, left behind them.
The unexpected repatriation disrupted our businesses and education of our children, they regretted.
Meanwhile, a Holding Center established in Landi Kotal to facilitate repatriation of Afghan families will be functioning next week, NADRA official said.
