In parts of Peshawar and Waziristan region, residents celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Thursday ahead of the official announcement by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, while rest of the country observed the 29th fast of Ramadan.
According to reports, in the suburban area of Sufaid Sang Peshawar, locals claimed to have sighted the Shawwal moon and proceeded to offer Eid prayers.
A large number of people gathered for the Eid prayer and exchanged festive greetings.
Similarly, in South Waziristan, particularly in the Bermal tehsil area of Angoor Adda, residents also announced the beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr and held congregational prayers.
These early celebrations occurred before any official confirmation from national authorities. Meanwhile, most parts of the country continued observing Ramadan, awaiting the central announcement for Eid Eid-ul-Fitr.
