The grim reality is that the protectors of humanity are the actual violators of human rights.
The world has moved towards the new era of innovation and technological advancements but their excessive industrialization process has deteriorated the sustainable environment with rising global warming and heat waves. Those nations like Pakistan that contribute below one per cent to the greenhouse gases but face grave environmental challenges. As per the World Bank report, “Pakistan lost more than Rs. 39billion during 2022 floods.”
Owing to climate injustice and climate finance gap, developing nations suffer more than contribution. According to OECD, “Developing nations lost over $300billion in 2024 due to climate change and improper climate finance where only 15% of climate finance reached the most vulnerable nations.”
The current age is the age of AI but it has ruined every walk of life where multifarious individual personalities, and state institutions fell prey to deep fake videos, personal cyber insecurity, and economic vandalism. At the multilateral and global platforms, AI is hampering the world with AI autonomous weapons to put humanity into the darkest corner where the recent escalation of Israel-Hamas conflict is at the top priority and the concerned in the current arena of nuclear states.
Cyber crimes are very common in the age of AI. In 2025, global cost of cybercrime is $10.5trillion annually.
Moreover, there are manifold feminist organizations and movements that fight for women’s rights since 19th century. Owing to their improper role in developing nations, they are still facing gender-based violence and inequalities from domestic life to economic zone. According to UNESCO, Gender Equality Monitor, “In 2023, women held 30% of executive positions in global NGOs, but less than 10% were from low-income or Global South backgrounds.” Moreover, as per FAO, 2024, “Globally, less than 15% landlords are women.
Presence of Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC) is nothing just a pillar of violator of religious rights of Muslims. Irrefutably, OIC leaders and Muslim nations are grappled with such internal conflicts that further deteriorate the religious rights of Muslims at stake. The West is increasing Islamophobia campaigns, extremism, cyber terrorism, and blasphemous attacks but no actual response was given from the side of this organization and its leaders.
Global community and organizations are the real suppressors of internal and external rights of states. Without their proper stand, territorial, infrastructure, and trade wars are the matters of the day. Illegally territorial conflicts on Palestine-Israel, Kashmir, Taiwan-China and Ukraine-Russia are still unresolved historical issues since past centuries.
Global powers use their power whenever they want and influence nations with weapon of power politics and aggressive policies. For instance, the United States of America(USA) under Trump’s presidency has applied recently 29% tariffs on Pakistan, 45-46% duties on Vietnam and 54% duties on Chinese products.
Infrastructure projects act as a debt trap diplomacy in the name of development for developing nations rather than building economic chains. “China took Srilanka port on lease for 99 years for $1.12billion in 2017”, as per World Bank Report. Consequently, Srilanka touched the lowest ebb of economic destruction in past few years.
The actual responsibility of global financial institutions is to recover weak national economies but they are further putting sanctions on weak nations and sending their economies into the abysmal state.
Global influence of dollar currency is hitting national local currencies hard.
By and large, the roadmap can’t be built in isolation, it needs immediate responsibility of global platforms and global leaders under the umbrella of globalization to provide equal opportunities to the developing nations in the arenas of global administration, politics, economy, institutions and agencies. Every country deserves equal recognition to protect its citizens in the age of modernization.
