Robust trade, investment ties with US top priority: FM

FinMin Aurangzeb, US trade representative pledge to work towards early conclusion of agreement

Finance Minister (FM) Muhammad Aurangzeb has said strong trade and investment partnership with US is top priority of Pakistan.
According to finance ministry Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a virtual meeting with U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer Wednesday. The two exchanged views in details on Pak-US trade ties
Both sides noted that negotiations on the proposed reciprocal trade framework have advanced significantly.
The two sides agreed that the remaining matters will be resolved at technical level soon.
Both the countries will continue contacts to give final shape to trade frame work and maintain pace of the negotiations.
Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized that a strengthened trade and investment partnership with the United States would contribute to Pakistan’s export-led growth strategy, support economic resilience, and create greater commercial opportunities for businesses in both countries. He also underscored the importance of continued collaboration with the U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM) to facilitate bilateral trade and investment.
Ambassador Greer acknowledged Pakistan’s continued engagement throughout the negotiations.
He praised Pakistan steps on effective implementation of laws related to forced labor.
He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to sustaining the positive trajectory of bilateral trade discussions and expressed confidence that the remaining issues could be resolved through continued technical engagement.
The two reiterated the resolve old standing economic partnership between Pakistan and US will be further fortified and such a trade framework will be given final shape which is conducive to business and investment interests of both the countries.
