Traffic management is a challenging task for police in Swat, says Sajjad Khan

An important meeting held on Wednesday with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Sajjad Khan in the chair, reviewed a comprehensive traffic management plan in presence of all stakeholders. District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Shafiullah Gandapur, Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic Warden Arshad Khan, SP Operations Pir Zarbadshah, SP Lower Swat, Rahim Hussain, traffic police, transport and administration department officers, traders, representatives of hotels and transport organizations and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
SP Traffic Warden Arshad Khan informed the meeting about the newly outlined traffic management plan in Swat district. The forum was informed that in terms of population, Swat is the fifteenth largest district of the province with a total population of 238,624 people.
He maintained that a large number of vehicles enter the district on a daily basis, adding that disorderly traffic in the city,encroachments, illegal parking among the major factors leading to traffic jams and creating problems for wardens to manage the flow of traffic.
“A comprehensive plan has been drawn up to keep the traffic flowing in Mingora city and other areas of the district,” SP Traffic added. Police officials were informed that the plan has been devised after a research survey.
SP Traffic further said that the entire district has been divided into seven sectors in terms of traffic management. This includes Brikot, Charbagh, Kabal, Khwaza Khela, Matta, Madin and main city Mingora.
As per the plan, police officials will be deputed across the district for the management of the traffic. RPO Sajjad Khan on this occasion said traffic management in the district is very crucial and effective steps should be taken for accurately implementing the proposed plan. He said that after the law and order situation, traffic management is the most important issue for police.
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan is also paying special attention to the solution of traffic problems, while the IG Police is also very serious about solving these problems, he said that the improvement of the traffic system in Swat is the center of special attention, therefore, the appointment of an experienced SP rank officer has been implemented.
He expressed hope that the new plan will solve traffic problems in the central city and other areas. DPO Swat Shafiullah Gandapur also addressed the meeting, the meeting participants resolved to stand side by side with the police in solving the traffic problems in Swat.
