Custom Intelligence and Frontier Corps(North) jointly foiled two separate bids to smuggle a huge quantity of narcotics from Afghanistan and arrested eight smugglers, officials said on Monday.
Deputy director custom intelligence Peshawar Amanat Khan told reporters that on the secrete information conveyed by directorate general custom intelligence Islamabad they deployed FC and custom staff at various border areas in Tirah valley.
Amanat Khan said they shared the prior information with high ups and constituted teams. He in the first action taken they flaged six persons at Rajgal border area. The persons had back packs were coming from Afghanistan. He said as they were asked to stop they runaway and left their back packs behind. He said 38kg hashish(Chars)and 6.5kg ice were recovered from their luggage. He said the worth of seized narcotics in market was 103 million rupees.
Amanat said in the second seizure custom intelligence and FC personnel recovered 92kg Hashish(Chars) during checking from pedestrians in Tirah valley. He said total worth of the seized items was 195 million rupees in international market. Eight people were arrested and started investigation.
