Another bad news has come for the people suffering from inflation. The possibility of further increase in electricity prices has been indicated. It has been reported that after the sharp increase in the prices of petroleum products, preparations are being made to make electricity more expensive. The price of electricity tariff is likely to increase further by Rs. 83 per unit. Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted application of increase in electricity tariff in NEPRA. The request for increase in electricity tariff was given in the context of monthly fuel price adjustment.

According to CPPA, 15 billion and 47 crore unit of electricity was provided to DICOs in August.

The request of CPPA will be heard on 27 September.

Additional burden of RS 33 billion will be imposed on consumers due to increase in price of electricity.
