Fierce ruckus could be seen Monday at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Legislative Assembly as members of opposition and the treasury benches went physically violent against each other. Chaos left former AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haidar receiving head injury as the law minister Sardar Fahim Akhtar allegedly struck him with mic.
As soon as Farooq was hit, physical violence between opposition and government lawmakers occurred and the House was converted into a bazaar, videos show.
Not only the lawmakers, workers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), opposition party in AJK entered the Assembly hall and the Speaker by force postponed the session till 11 in the morning today (Tuesday).
PML-N workers were agitated with the events inside Assembly hall and they staged sit-in outside Assembly’s main gate and tried to forcefully enter in, it emerged. They demanded the administration to take action against PTI minister, and threatened to ‘occupy offices by force’ otherwise.
On Monday, the assembly session turned violent when the law minister objected at Opposition leader Latif Akbar’s Requisition. During the process, former PM Raja Farooq Haidar fleered at the law minister and the situation turned ugly when Faheem hurled mic at Farooq Haidar.
Sources said later in the evening that Prime Minister Sardar Tanvir Ilyas has telephoned his predecessor Haidar and has apologized over the issue.
