Sloganeering at Quaid’s tomb
KARACHI: Granting one time exemption from personal appearance before court in sloganeering case at Quaid-e-Azam mausoleum on Saturday Session Judge Karachi asked counsel for retired Captain Safdar to ensure his presence during next date of hearing. A Sessions Judge granted exemption from personal appearance to retired Captain Muhammad Safdar, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in a case pertaining to sloganeering at Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum. Appearing on behalf of his client, the counsel requested the court to exempt Safdar Awan from personal appearance on the grounds that he was out of the city to which the Judge allowed application of Safdar Awan amid issuing directives to the investigation officer to submit an interim charge sheet in the case within three days. On October 19, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz’s husband was arrested from a private hotel in Karachi on charges of sloganeering at Quaid-e-Azam’s tomb and later released on bail. A Judicial Magistrate had approved his bail against a surety bond of Rs 100,000. TLTP
