SAI & SITE Ltd enter into agreement with SSWMB for lifting solid waste from site area

KARACHI
As result of a number of combined meetings and detailed deliberations took place among SITE Association of Industry, SITE Limited and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), the parties have finally inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the lifting of solid waste from SITE area Karachi including sweeping of roads and streets, removal of debris and cleaning of nullah.
The agreement signing ceremony took place at the Head office of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board. Administrator KMC Barrister Murtaza Wahab was the Chief Guest. President SITE Association Abdul Rasheed along with Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala, Managing Director of SITE Limited Munawar Ali Mahesar and Managing Director SSWMB Zubair Ahmed Channa were also present on this occasion.
The delegation of SITE Association of Industry was led by its Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala and included Abdul Rasheed, President, Saud Mahmood, SVP, Muhammad Kamran Arbi, VP, Jawed Bilwani Former President, Abdul Hadi, Immediate Past President, Anwer Aziz, EC Member and Saleem Nagaria, Former SVP.
Under the agreement, SSWMB will now be responsible for door-to-door lifting of municipal solid waste and its transportation and disposal at landfill site, sweeping of roads and streets, lifting of debris & construction material and cleaning of nullah from SITE area, Karachi – the oldest and largest industrial zone of the country.
To start with, SSWMB will prepare a detailed operational model for collection of waste sweeping and share with SITE Limited and SITE Association of Industry for input. The same shall be implemented after mutual consent. A trial period of 2 months without any charges for sanitation services has been mutually agreed upon between the parties. On satisfactory performance during the trial period, all industries, commercial units, banks, shops etc. will pay monthly service charges to the SSWMB as per agreed rate. For close coordination and quick action on members’ complaints, a representative of SSWMB shall also be deputed at the office of SITE Association of Industry.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Administrator KMC and Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association Zubair Motiwala have congratulated the stakeholders on signing of the agreement and expressed the confidence that SSWMB will take every step to make the agreement a success with ultimate objective of improving cleanliness in SITE area.
