Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, has strongly criticized Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar’s recent remarks, accusing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of exploiting natural disasters for political point-scoring.
Responding to Tarar’s comments regarding the recent tragedy in Swat, Dr. Saif stated that instead of using calamities for political mileage, the PML-N should reflect on its own failures in Punjab and the federal capital.
He pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had offered assistance to Punjab in the wake of the recent monsoon havoc. However, according to Dr. Saif, this goodwill gesture was met with “pettiness rather than cooperation” from PML-N leadership.
“If the tragedy in Swat is being linked to corruption, then what about the devastation in Punjab?” Dr. Saif questioned. He urged Atta Tarar to explain the loss of life, infrastructure damage, and widespread drainage failures in Lahore and Islamabad during the recent rains.
Dr. Saif said that just a few hours of rainfall had exposed the fragile urban infrastructure in both cities, contradicting the Sharif family’s long-standing claims of development.
He emphasized that despite decades of rule by the Sharif family, the inability of major urban centers to withstand seasonal rains reflects the hollowness of their development narrative.
