Girls education awareness session was conducted in jirga hall, Landi Kotal on Saturday.
Under the banner of Sarhad Rural Support Program(SRSP) with assistance of Education Department, the gathering was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ihsanullah, Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Adnan Mumtaz, Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, Manager of the SRSP Sartaj Ghani Afridi, Assistant District Education Officer Inayatullah Afridi, Principal Post Graduate College, Landi Kotal Saeed Khattek, large number of tribal elders, teachers and students were among the participants.
Speaking on the occasion speakers including Additional DC Ihsanullah, Haji Shah Khalid, the Manager Sartaj Ghani Afridi and others said that the purpose of the Sarhad Rural Program was to enhance literacy rate among the womenfolk so as to guarantee a bright future for girls.
Female literacy rate was low in the merged districts therefore all necessary initiatives were adopted to encourage girls’ education in the tribal belt, they remarked.
They urged the participants to decorate their sisters and daughters with ornaments of education and make them useful citizens of the country.
At the end school bags were distributed among the female students of the government –run schools in Landi Kotal.
