Sasta Bazaar in Landi Kotal lacks basic edibles

All basic edibles items are absent in Sasta Bazaar established in Landi Kotal on the arrival of Ramadan (fasting) here in subdivision Landi Kotal.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the purpose to provide all basic food items to the believers on subsidizes rates in the holy month of Ramadan but ironically the scheme has not been materialized and so far only three items including flour, sugar and poultry area available in the Bazaar, the locals remarked.
The local administrative official in the Bazaar said that the above three edibles have been supplied and it has been selling to the customers at a concession price.
He added that 20 kg of flour bag sells for 800 rupees, while 01 kg of sugar on 84 rupees and 275 rupees per kg of poultry is available in the Bazaar.
Hasan Ali, a local youth said that prices of food items have gone uncontrolled in the market and it is impossible for a poor person to keep his kitchen functional in the month of Ramadan.
He urged the authorities concerned to supply other necessary commodities like ghee, oil, pulses, vegetables, fruits etc. to the Sasta Bazaar so that low income earners can also break their fasting with respect and relief.
When the Assistant Commissioner,Landi Kotal Akbar Iftekhar was contacted on the matter he said that management of utility stores has assured them to provide all needed goods to the Sasta Bazaar in two days.
He added that a proper inspection plan has been formulated to check the prices in the open market and those found charging extra will be dealt with as per law.
