Supreme Court (SC) has barred Prime Minister (PM) from making appointment of judges in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB)..
A two members bench of SC comprising Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan and Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the case against appointment of judges in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Chief Minister (CM) Gilgit-Baltistan had resorted to SC against the appointment of judges.
During the hearing of the case on Wednesday the federal government sought more time to give reply.
The Attorney General (AG) said one week time be given more to give reply.
Makhdoom Ali Khan counsel for CM Gilgit-Baltistan opposing it said the case is pending hearing since one year. The case is in court and even then appointments are being made.
Justice Mazahar inquired is chief minister advice in the appointment of judtes is necessary.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked nothing will happen if the appointments are not made in a week or two weeks. Judges have taken over charge. We will settle the legal status of issuing notice to them on next hearing.

The court stopped PM Pakistan from making appointment of judges in Gilgit-Baltistan and issued stay orders against appointments till the decision of this case.
The SC while issuing notice to judges appointed in Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate court through registrar adjourned the hearing of the case till March 15.
