Transfer of judges of IHC case
ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) constitutional bench has called minutes of meetings of Judicial Council (JC) in the case related to transfer of judges of Islamabad High Court (IHC). Hearing of the case was adjourned till Thursday. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan called details of January 17 and February 10 meetings of JC. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan raised this question what principle was adopted with reference to transfer of judges. Why Justice Sarfraz Dogar was chosen for transfer. Justice Dogar was at 15th number in seniority in Lahore High Court (LHC) and he came on first number in IHC.
Justice Salah ud Din remarked judges came due to their transfer from other high courts then Chief Justice (CJ) of IHC had no powers to resolve seniority matter.
A five members SC constitutional bench heard the case under justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
The Attorney General (AG) while completing his arguments during the hearing of the case requested the court the petition of IHC judges be rejected on merit and other petitions be declared non maintainable and be dismissed.
