SC dismisses NAB appeal plea seeking revocation of former chairman CDA bail

Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed NAB appeal plea seeking revocation of bail in respect of former chairman CDA Inayat Elahi.

Justice Sardar Tariq Masood raised the question during the hearing of the case has trial been completed. The reference was filed four years earlier and the accused still has not been indicted.

NAB prosecutor told the court he has not been indicted so far. The petition in connection with cancellation of the bail was also filed four year back.

Justice Qazi Amin remarked on the occasion NAB spends several years in making reference. Should we send the accused to jail for 10 years.

NAB prosecutor took the plea indicting the accused is court’s job. If the accused is indicted then we are sitting well prepared to present the witnesses. Appointing judges is mandate of the government and the respective chief justice.

Azam Nazir Tarar the counsel for the accused argued the application regarding acquittal is not being decided after the promulgation of NAB amendment ordinance. No allegation of financial malpractice stands against the former chairman CDA. What can we do if there is burden of cases on the court. Islamabad High Court has sought reply from NAB for running case by clubbing 25 references.

Justice Qazi Amin remarked every accused of NAB says himself innocent.

Former chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Ali is charged with committing corruption in Shakarparian Cultural Complex .
