Constitutional petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) against the inflated electricity bills. Constitutional petition has been filed by advocate Zulfiqar Bhutta taking the plea a person drawing Rs 15000 salary per month is paying electricity bill by obtaining loan of Rs 25000. He will feed his children from where and how he will pay rent of the house. The government can not place burden on any citizen beyond his capacity. The petitioner said receiving income tax through bills falls under the ambit of double taxation. Income tax has been included in a bill twice which bears no legal justification.
The petition said fuel adjustment tax is being levied under what formula. People know nothing about it.
The petitioner prayed the court to nullify the fuel adjustment and direct the government to provide relief to the poor and middle class.
