ISLAMABAD: Ordering the Lahore High Court (LHC) to give decisions on the appeals filed by former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi by August 21, the Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday made it clear that in case the high court failed to decide the fate of these appeals, the order to arrest Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be deemed to be suspended. A three-member bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, heard PTI president’s bail plea. The court adjourned the case’s hearing for an indefinite time period. Four days ago, on August 12, 2023, the SC had fixed for hearing the bail application of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on August 16. The apex court said that a three-member bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan and comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Shahid Waheed, will hold the hearing. The former chief minister had prayed to the court to set aside an order of the LHC of suspension of his protective bail dated July 17, 2023 for being unconstitutional and without lawful jurisdiction.
