Delay in KP, Punjab polls
ISLAMABAD
The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has said to the petitioner Zafar Ali Shah during the hearing of petition against delay in Punjab and KP polls that “ the institution can be responsible for not fixing your petition in time in polls in Punjab and KP and not I.
The CJP remarked while presiding over 3-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the hearing of petition against delay in Punjab, KP polls here Thursday.
The court remarked the petition has become in-fructuous after announcement of date of February 8 for polls, Now the date for polls has come. How can we hear your petition. We are hearing all cases regarding polls on priority basis.
The CJP inquired from Zafar Ali Shah “ do you not want polls.
Zafar Ali Shah said he wants elections. But proceedings should be initiated against those responsible for delay in polls.
Justice Muhammad Mazhar remarked there is no application before us seeking action against any one. Then how can we issue order.
The CJP remarked the institution can be responsible for not fixing your petition in time and he cannot be.
The court wrapped up Zafar Ali Shah petition being in-fructuous.
