PESHAWAR
Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry senior vice president Shahid Hussain said that issues of business community and journalists fraternity are common, which need to be addressed by joint efforts.
The chamber’s senior office bearer noted that business community issues were not highlighted properly owing to communication gaps.
Shahid Hussain called for making Torkham gate, Ghulam Khan and other major trade routes easier to improve bilateral trade with central Asian republics.
The SCCI SVP was addressing senior journalists during a luncheon event hosted by him in honour of the newly elected cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Union of Journalists (KPUoJs) here at the local hotel, said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
Those who were present during the luncheon include KPUoJs president Shams Mohmand, General Secretary Ibrahim Shinwari, writer, and columnists, and noted literary figure Dr Abaseen Yousafzai, senior journalist Shamim Shahid, Saddar Gul, Fazal Wahid, Abidullah Yousafzai, Muhammad Ishtiaq along with senior members of the SCCI.
Shahid Hussain lauded the formation of KPUoJs and called it an important platform for highlighting issues of people belonging to different walks of life, industrialists and traders community.
The SCCI’s SVP said the issues of business community and journalists are common, which should be resolved with joint struggle.
He urged the government to take pragmatic steps for providing a friendly and peaceful atmosphere to the business community to promote free trade and boost nation-wide industrialisation.
Later, the chamber senior vice president presented the SCCI’s shield to KPUoJs president Shams Mohmand.
Earlier, KPUoJs president Shams Mohmand, senior journalists and others also spoke on the occasion and highlighted issues of journalists community and vowed to jointly make efforts for amicable resolution of issues that were being faced by business community and journalists fraternity.
