SCCI urges govt to address jewellers concerns on PoS system

President Fazal Moqeem lauds jewellers’ contribution in economic growth, job creation
PESHAWAR
Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Fazal Moqeem Khan said business community, associated with the jewelry sector are fully committed to pay all taxes and playing a pivotal role in economic development and job creation and urged government and Federal Board of Revenue to provide them relief and facilities.
He was speaking while chairing a meeting of the SCCI’ Standing Committee on Jewellers Association, Fazal Moqeem Khan held here in the chamber house on Saturday.
Besides, SCCI Senior Vice President Abdul Jalil Jan, Vice president Shehryar Israr Khan, former senior vice president Sanaullah Khan, Chairman SCCI Standing Committee on Jewellers Aziz ullah Khan, Chairman All Pakistan Jewellers Association Amin Hussain Babar, President Saraf Association Andar Sher Bazar Haji Sher Farzand, Senior vice chairman of SCCI Standing Committee on Saeedullah Khan, vice chairman of the committee Hasnain Sheraz, Tippu Sultan Road President Sultan Road Junaid Javed, Pattern in Chief Saddar Road Monawar Khurshid, senior vice president Saddar Road Sohail Masood, Arbab Road Senior Vice president Aftab Ahmad, Sonehri Bazar General Secretary Saeed Khan, Pattern in Chief Tippu Sultan Road Faiz Ullah Saraf, Senior Leader Khan Lala, Haji Imtiaz Durrani, Haji Abid Husasin, Haji Tariq Aziz, Haji Wahidur Rehman, Haji Tahir Rashid, General Secretary Saddar Road Sumeer Chaudhry, Fayyaz Durrani, Khan Baba, vice president Traders Alliance Daniyal Sohail, Asim Attaullah, Moqeed Wasim along with members, leaders, traders, jewelers community from Saddar and Andar Sher were present in a large number in the meeting.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the matters pertaining to FBR and other departments/authorities and decided to take unified efforts to address tax related and other issues by effectively raising before the government, FBR, relevant authorities and providing relief to the jewellers community at every level.
Speakers stressed the need for forging units among ranks and took up all issues of the jewellers community under a united platform with government senior officials and authorities at provincial and federal level.
Chairman of the Standing Committee Azizullah Khan addressed the meeting, stating that the jewellers community has an enormous contribution in economic growth of the country through paying various taxes.
He, however, stressed the jewellers community reservations should be removed regarding the implementation of Point of Sale and DNBP and other tax-related issues.
Amin Husasin Babar briefed the meeting about the outcome of the meeting with Chairman FBR, SIFC and other high officials at federal level and urged the jewellers community to play their proactive role in broadening the tax-net and continue to play a role in strengthening the national economy.
He said jewellers community concerns on enforcement of Point of Sale (PoS) and DNBP were effectively taken up. He added the government had given assurance to resolve all issues with mutual consultation and all genuine demands of jewellers would be fulfilled.
Fazal Moqeem stated tax issues are becoming complicated with the passage of time and stressed forging unity and stressed joint efforts to address all problems of the business community.
He called upon the government, FBR and other authorities to resolve genuine concerns of the jewellers community and take concrete measures for relief and facilities to taxpayers.
