Section 232 of the law on limiting disqualification period to 5 years has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
The petitioner Mian Shabbir Ismail has filed the petition through Azhar Siddique advocate in LHC making federal government and others respondents.
The petitioner has taken plea in the petition that parliament is not authorized to enact legislation with simple majority. Violation of law has been committed.
The petition said article 62-1/F of section 232 of the law on limiting disqualification period to 5 years has been violated. Parliament cannot limit disqualification period to 5 years.
The petitioner has requested the court to declare as unconstitutional section 232 of the law on limiting the disqualification period to five years.
