Security measures are insufficient for incoming elections, army should be called, said Secretary Election Commission Babar Yaqoob Malik during a briefing to Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Monday. He apprised the committee members that 20 thousand polling stations are declared as sensitive, where security camera would be installed, using these security cameras the discipline of security and elections commission’s staff would also be monitored.
Secretary Election Commission said that “The demands for deputing army on polling stations increasing day by day, it is suggested that army should be deputed on all the polling stations, we have conducted a number of meeting with army in this regard. They are busy on eastern and western borders.”
“Provincial Chief Secretaries have assured the installation of security cameras on sensitive polling stations, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for installation of security cameras have been prepared”. Senator Javed Abbasi talked on the issue of KP Caretaker Chief Minister and said the nominated KP caretaker CM is a conflicted personality, voice also raised in national assembly against him.
Answering this Senator Azam Khan Swati said that Imran Khan has already rejected the name for CM Caretaker CM.
Senator Rehman Malik said the media should play a positive role during elections, caretaker setup should be able to conduct transparent elections, he demanded that the security should be provided to the politicians having live threats.
In last elections the son of Yousuf Raza Gillani kidnapped, if this type any mishap happen the Interior Ministry would be responsible.
