Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Javed Marwat has directed revenue officers to ensure the effective recovery of government taxes, particularly the newly implemented Agricultural Income Tax, by adopting appropriate mechanisms.
He stated that an extensive awareness campaign will be launched under the communication strategy for the Agricultural Income Tax Act 2025, to educate both taxpayers and relevant staff about the new law. He was addressing a meeting of revenue officers and staff from the Mardan and Swabi districts held at the Commissioner Office’s conference room.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmad, Board of Revenue Members Atta-ur-Rehman and Ghafoor Shah, Deputy Commissioners of Mardan and Swabi, Additional Commissioner, and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted on the performance of Service Delivery Centers in Mardan and Swabi, the current status of government revenue collection, and the facilitation being provided to the public in revenue-related matters.
Taking notice of the slow progress in converting “Khana Kasht” (cultivated land records) into “Khana Malkiat” (ownership records), the SMBR instructed officers to remove obstacles and expedite the process.
Javed Marwat further directed that maximum facilities be provided at Service Delivery Centers, especially for women, to ensure ease for citizens visiting for various revenue matters. He added that to reduce public rush at the SDCs, certain services may be shifted back to Model Patwar Khanas, and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is being considered with NADRA for issuing land record documents (Fardat).
Reminding officers of their core responsibilities, Marwat said that while government employees may be assigned various duties, their primary role remains revenue collection — a key performance indicator — and they must not neglect this responsibility under any circumstances.
