PESHAWAR: The Transport Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has banned use of outdated and shabby vehicles by the educational institutions for transportation of students across the province. According to a notification issued by the Transport Department vehicles registered or manufactured before December 2000 have been banned for transportation of students by the educational institutions, granting one month time to the educational institutions for replacing the old and unsafe vehicles. After expiry of the granted time, educational institutions failing to replace their vehicles would face action. It may be mentioned here that most of the vehicles used by the educational institutions for the transportation of students and staff have become outdated and unsafe for students’ transportation besides causing environmental pollution.
