PML-N President and leader of the opposition in National Assembly (NA) Shahbaz Sharif while giving reply to letter from the president Arif Alvi has rejected the name of Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmad as care taker Prime Minister (PM).
He said that presenting the name of Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmad as care taker PM runs contrary to the constitution.
Deputy speaker NA ruling on rejecting no confidence motion against the PM is alien to law and constitution, he underlined. This matter is pending hearing with Supreme Court (SC) as the court has taken suo motu notice of April 03 illegal and unconstitutional steps.
Shahbaz added there were crystal clear orders from the SC that the orders of president and PM will be subject to the permission of SC unless the case is decided. Despite it Imran Khan proposed the name of Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmad against the constitution. The consultation process on the appointment of caretaker PM was initiated in haste by the president. Combined opposition does not agree with it. We have rejected the name of Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmad.
He indicated that letter sent by the president was received by him on April 05 at 9 p.m. The matter is in the court therefore, president has no powers to launch the process of appointment of care taker PM.
