Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif called on former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra on Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were also present during the meeting. According to official sources, the Prime Minister briefed Nawaz Sharif in detail about his recent visit to Malaysia and conveyed the message of goodwill from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy close brotherly relations, and bilateral cooperation — especially in the economic sector — is reaching new heights,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said. The Prime Minister also apprised Nawaz Sharif of his upcoming visit to Egypt, expressing optimism that Pakistan’s relations with friendly countries will continue to strengthen through mutual respect and partnership.
During the meeting, the current situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border also came under discussion. The participants strongly condemned the recent unprovoked aggression from the Afghan side and appreciated the effective and robust response by Pakistan’s armed forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the professionalism and courage of the Pakistan Army, stating that the entire nation stands united with its armed forces in defending the country’s sovereignty.
“The people of Pakistan are fully behind their armed forces in safeguarding the motherland. Our soldiers’ dedication and sacrifices are a source of pride for the entire nation,” he said. The meeting also reviewed the country’s internal political and economic situation, with emphasis on ensuring national unity and stability in the face of external challenges.
Both leaders agreed that political harmony and coordinated national efforts are vital to steer the country out of challenges and maintain peace and development.
