LAHORE
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) and Research Centre in Lahore on Sunday.
Talking to the media, the prime ministetr expressed his disappointment with the Imran Khan government for, what he called, ignoring this public healthcare facility inaugurated by PML-N. The PML-N government brought in the project when Shehbaz Sharif was the chief minister of the most populated province in 2017. PM Shehbaz said the institute was aimed at providing the people with treatment of serious diseases – a responsibility the government has. He listed the feats of his 10-year rule as chief minister of Punjab. He felt strong concerns for the patients of kidney and liver issues saying that he could feel the agony of the patients they faced because of the PTI government’s politics of revenge. He said he sought a review report so that it could resume and he express gratitude to Dr Faisal for looking after the institute against all odds.
He alleged that the last government shut the power plants the PML-N government brought in, resulting in the return of power cuts. He issued directives to adopt measures to reduce power cuts by May.
He said would not tolerate such torments and stressed the authorities must utilize all the resources to cope with the challenge.
Though the PML-N’s previous rule made functional many power projects, the PTI ruined those projects just to take revenge. The prime minister has ordered providing the fire-hit farmers with compensation at the earliest. Reportedly, a total of 77 acres of wheat crops has been reduced to ashes yesterday.
Technical fault in the harvesting machine is cited as the reason for the tragedy. The firemen covered a distance of 32 km in 25 minutes and put out the fire saving dozens of acres. The premier Sunday paid a visit to the special Ramazan Bazaar too.
He has a plan to take a tour of Dera Ismail Khan – the constituency of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman – and announce mega projects for the KP district. The visit would be part of Shehbaz’s drive to remove a sense of deprivation in the neglected areas. =DNA
