Opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Friday demanded ‘foolproof’ security for members of National Assembly (MNAs) who will support opposition’s no-trust motion against PM Imran Khan.
In a letter written to Interior Secretary, the opposition leader sought security for all lawmakers. Copies of the letter have also been sent to Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and the Police Chief.
The letter also mentions PM Imran’s alleged statement of calling 100000 PTI workers outside Parliament house on the day of voting on opposition’s no-confidence motion.
As per the letter, Shehbaz Sharif has demanded Secretary Interior to ensure complete security of all the MNAs who will attend Assembly Session on Sunday. The letter states that any public gathering in the Red Zone would be a violation of article 144 and Supreme Court’s directives.
Such public gathering will provoke other political parties to call their supporters as well, leading to a possible law and order situation, the letter states.
