Provincial Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday demanded that all basic facilities be provided to people displaced from Tirah Valley due to recent operation, alleging that both the federal and provincial governments were neglecting the victims.
He was speaking at a joining ceremony held at Watan Kor Sherpao, where dozens of workers from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and other political parties announced their decision to join the QWP.
Welcoming the new entrants, Mr Sherpao said the growing public trust in the QWP reflected a positive change in the political landscape.
He stressed that effective measures must be taken to address the hardships faced by innocent displaced families from Tirah, keeping their suffering in view.
He said the affected population was in dire need of relief and support, adding that the prevailing situation required urgent attention to alleviate their misery.
Criticising the PTI government, he said people had become disillusioned due to what he termed poor governance and unfulfilled promises over the past 12 years.
Mr Sherpao alleged that instead of resolving public issues, the PTI government relied on slogans and false assurances, which had led to widespread disappointment among the people.
He expressed confidence that the newly joined workers would play an important role in conveying the party’s message at the grassroots level.
Sherpao reiterated that the QWP would continue its struggle for public welfare and the protection of provincial rights, vowing that no sacrifice would be spared in pursuit of these objectives.
District and regional leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.
