Sherry Rehman renews pledge to democracy and justice

PPP marks 58th Youm-e-Tasees

On the occasion of the 58th Youm-e-Tasees of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman reaffirmed the party’s unwavering dedication to democracy, justice, and the empowerment of the people of Pakistan.
Speaking on the historic day, she paid tribute to PPP founder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, highlighting his vision to uplift the marginalized and establish a political platform for the people.
“The founding of PPP on November 30, 1967, marked a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s history, and his ideals continue to guide our political outlook,” she said.
Senator Rehman underscored the party’s achievements, including the introduction of the 1973 Constitution, landmark agricultural reforms, establishment of an independent foreign policy, advancement of nuclear and missile programs, and social initiatives such as the Benazir Income Support Program and contributions to CPEC.
She also honored the sacrifices of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, noting her courage in the face of terrorism and her enduring commitment to democracy, human rights, and gender equality. “Her bravery and foresight remain central to the PPP’s identity and mission to serve the people,” she said.
Under Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Senator Rehman added, the PPP continues to uphold the vision of its founding leader, remaining a symbol of hope and a driving force for progress despite challenges.
Concluding her message, she emphasized the significance of Youm-e-Tasees as a moment to honor the party’s legacy and renew its commitment to a Pakistan rooted in democracy, equality, and justice. “The PPP has always stood by the people and will continue to fight for their rights, dignity, and development,” she stated.
