A grocery shopkeeper and one of his customers sustained injuries after armed robbers opened fire when the shopkeeper resisted a robbery attempt in the Rasaldar area of Kandhkot on Saturday.
According to police and local sources, a group of armed robbers entered a grocery store in the area of Mirzapur and attempted to rob the shopkeeper at gunpoint and demanded cash and other valuables from the shopkeeper. During the incident, the shopkeeper reportedly offered resistance, prompting the robbers to open fire.
As a result, shopkeeper Ashok Kumar and a customer present at the store Mohammad Suliman jakharani sustained bullet injuries. Following the attack, the robbers managed to escape from the scene before the arrival of law enforcement agencies.
The sudden gunfire created panic in the area, forcing nearby shopkeepers and residents to rush for safety. Local residents immediately informed the police and rescue teams about the incident.
Upon receiving information, police personnel rushed to the scene and shifted the injured shopkeeper and customer to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Hospital sources stated that both victims received emergency medical care and were reported to be in stable condition. Police officials said that an investigation into the incident has been launched and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the culprits.
Authorities are also examining available information and possible surveillance footage from the surrounding area to determine the movements of the suspects before and after the crime.
The incident has once again raised concerns among local traders and residents regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Kandhkot. Local traders and Businessmen expressed fear over the increasing number of robbery incidents and street crimes in the district, urging law enforcement agencies to take effective measures to ensure public safety.
They stressed that such incidents not only threaten lives but also create an atmosphere of fear among citizens and business communities. Residents of the area demanded the immediate arrest of the robbers and urged police to increase patrolling in vulnerable localities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
They emphasized that strict action against criminal elements is necessary to restore confidence among the public. Meanwhile, police officials assured the public that all possible efforts are being made to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
Further investigation into the incident is underway. It worth mentioning here that the incident comes merely two days after the surrender of 44 dacoits before the district police, a move widely welcomed by the public as a positive step toward restoring peace.
Nevertheless, the latest armed robbery has reignited fears among residents and traders, who remain concerned about the persistent threat posed by criminal elements in the area.
