Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Siraj ul Haq has called for restoration of Karachi —ruined by the interests based politics and flawed policies of the PPP, the MQM and the PTI. The JI leader was holding a press conference at the JI Karachi headquarters on Friday over the issues surrounding national politics and the domestic situations in Karachi.
He said that people across the Sindh, including Karachi are hopeless of ruling regimes in the province and the center. The PPP, the MQM and the PTI have ruined Karachi as unfortunately the city has lost its leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that each and every individual in Karachi wants the city to be saved so the JI Karachi launched Save Karachi Movement. He added that the PPP government in Sindh has ambushed the local government law but the JI campaign and agitation by masses will compel the ruling regime to withdraw the controversial bill.
He added that masses would be demonstrating a strong protest against the controversial bill outside the Sindh Assembly building on December 31.
He further said that all the three; the PTI, the PPP and the MQM, enjoyed the politics of interests in the city. The PPP didn’t deliver anywhere in the province, he said. The PTI also announced packages worth more than Rs1, 100 billion for Karachi but nothing was changed on the ground.
He further said that the outgoing year proved to be a year of inflation for the people of Karachi. He said that the MQM in 2013 gifted 15 local government departments to the provincial government of PPP while in 2021 the same party snatched 14 more departments of the local government.
Further talking about the issues in Karachi he said that the citizens need their due rights, while the government was pleasing those who irked the citizens. He further said that license of the K-Electric should be revoked.
SirajulHaq said that only Abdul Sattar Afghani and Nematullah Khan both belonging to the JI delivered in Karachi. He said that the JI is the only party in the political arena which believes in serving on grass root level instead of the drawing room politics. He expressed his hope that Karachiites would get their due rights as a result of joint efforts being made in the city.
Talking about the PTI government, he said that approvers from within the party have now started saying that the government has left nothing in the economy of the country.
He added that the government practically handed over the State Bank of Pakistan to the International Monetary Fund. The governor of the SBP played the role of IMF’s representative in Pakistan. As a result, he said, the dollar hit unpredictable and illogical heights. He demanded of the government to let the governor go instead of extending his tenure at the top bank.
He said that the PTI had claimed to end the VIP culture and to empower the National Accountability Bureau. In contrast, the PTI government clamped down the NAB and significantly enhanced the VIP culture. The budget for governor house in Punjab has been increased by Rs50 million, he said.
As a result of flawed policies by the government, some 70 million Pakistanis have slipped down below the line of poverty. The class based economic system has further strengthened in the country and 20.7 million youngsters in the country were titled as jobless.
The JI leader said that the federal government has borrowed more than 190.50 million dollar at a time when there was no development in the country. He further said that the
Referring to the two opposite type of decisions in the cases of two towers in Karachi and Islamabad, he said that unilateral type of decisions should be made in courts as the nation needs one country for both the poor and the rich. He also asked the judiciary to call up all those nominated in the Panama Papers and Pandora Box scandals.
He said that results of local bodies elections would doom the PTI regime. He added that inflation and flawed policies have ruined the credibility of the PTI. Had Imran Khan contested local bodies elections in Mianwali, he would fail because of the impacts of inflation introduced during the tenure of the PTI, he said.
No matter what the prime minister does, either overseeing electoral process by him or contesting elections on the basis of health cards, everything would be useless as the PTI has already written its fate during the past three years, he said.
JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz NaeemurRehman also addressed the presser while the JI Pakistan chief was flanked by party leaders, including Mohammad Asghar, FareedParacha, DrUsamaRazi and MunimZafar Khan.
