The Deputy Commissioner has placed all concerned departments on high alert and directed them to ensure the smooth restoration of traffic and public safety at the Lowari Tunnel after continuous rain and snowfall led to the accumulation of approximately five inches of snow in the area.
According to a statement, the National Highway Authority (NHA) machinery was actively engaged in snow clearance operations on the Lowari Approach Road and Garmchashma Link Road, while machinery from the TMA, C&W, and KVDA was deployed for snow removal in other parts of the district.
As a result of these coordinated efforts, the Lowari Approach Road and all major routes have been restored for traffic.
The district administration has advised passengers and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather conditions.
Travelers have been urged to contact the 1422 Tourism Helpline before visiting any tourist destination to obtain the latest information regarding road conditions.
The tourists and local travellers have been asked to use snow chains to prevent accidents and avoid inconvenience during travel.
