Socio-economic development of NMAs top priority: Afridi

An important meeting held here on Friday with caretaker minister for relief, rehabilitation and resettlement Taj Muhammad Afridi in the chair, reviewed the steps so far taken for the socio-economic development of the Newly Merged Areas (NMAs) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting which was held in the Khyber-House in Peshawar was attended by deputy and additional commissioners of tribal district Khyber, district police chief, officials of the food and TESCO departments.
Caretaker minister on this occasion said that the provincial government was taking all possible steps to develop tribal districts of the province and resolve all outstanding issues of the areas on priority basis.
“Caretaker provincial government is taking effective measures to ensure sustainable peace and faster socio-economic development in the merged tribal districts,” he added.
Supply of subsidized flour and establishment of cheap markets at different tribal districts were the two main agenda of the government for the upcoming month of Ramadan, he added and said the government was also keen to resolve the issue of electricity in the merged district on war footing.
The meeting was informed regarding the ongoing and completed development projects in the NMAs.
The forum also discussed the overall situation of law and order in the tribal district Khyber.
Taj Muhammad Afridi urged the staff of tehsil municipal administration to have a better attitude towards the people and especially the people related to employment and to create facilities for them.
He also issued instructions to resolve the staff related issues of TMA Lindikotal on priority basis and issued instructions to the concerned authorities to supply flour to the people at subsidized rates, distribute it fairly, take strict action against wholesalers and monitor the quality and quantity of flour on a regular basis.
