A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom after an intense exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan district of the KP province, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the army media wing, during an exchange of fire between terrorists and the security forces in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan distinct, the sepoy was martyred.
The troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and during the exchange of fire, Sepoy Shahzaib Imtiaz, aged 25 years and a resident of Kotli Sattian, fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom, the military’s media wing said.
“Area clearance is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area,” the statement concluded. President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi paid tribute to Shahzeb while reacting to the news of his martyrdom.
He expressed grief over the loss of a precious soldier and prayed that Allah grant patience and comfort to his family. “The nation is united against terrorism and the war will go on till the scourge of terrorism is completely eradicated,” the president said.
North Waziristan has seen an uptick in attacks against the security forces in the past few months. Last week, a Pakistan army soldier was martyred during an exchange of fire between terrorists and the security forces in Datta Khel area.
The fight took place between the night of June 1 and June 2 when the terrorists attacked a military post, ISPR said. Last month, two soldiers embraced martyrdom after terrorists attacked a military post in the district’s Mir Ali area.
