Alleged audio leaks probe
Islamabad: Najam ul Saqib, son of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar has challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC) the special committee constituted by speaker National Assembly (NA) to probe into alleged audio leaks. It has been said in the petition the alleged audio leaks is interference in the privacy of the petitioner and outcome of illegal surveillance. The court should declare that recording private conversation of private persons is breach of basic rights. The petitioner said NA speaker constituted a committee on his own without demand from members of parliament on May 2 to probe into alleged audio leaks. Its formation is illegal. He was not authorized to do so. Secretary committee issued call up notice in his personal capacity without the meeting of committee. As per law the audio leaks can only be presented in any trial or investigation in the situation when it is known that who recorded audio and the audio was recorded for what purpose. The petitioner requested the court to declare the committee constituted by speaker NA illegal. The proceedings be suspended and order be issued for not taking adverse action against the petitioner till the decision of the petition. Online
