In a tragic series of events, two consecutive explosions targeted police personnel in Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the martyrdom of Superintendent of Police Operations Asad Zubair and two other police officials.
According to local police , the explosions occurred when SP Zubair, along with other officials, was en route to the scene of an earlier blast. A police vehicle was struck by a remote-controlled bomb at Daraban, leading to the fatalities.
DSP Khanzeb Mohmand confirmed that, in addition to the three martyrs, two other police officials were injured in the explosion. The injured officials were immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Hangu, where one of them was reported to be in critical condition.
Police sources indicated that terrorists had targeted the police vehicle with explosives as it was traveling to the site of the initial blast. The vehicle was completely destroyed, and SP Asad Zubair, along with his two companions, were martyred on the spot.
Following the attack, additional police personnel have been deployed in the area. A search operation is underway, with security forces having sealed off the entry and exit routes to gather evidence and trace the perpetrators.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation. Former President Asif Ali Zardari strongly denounced the terrorist act, calling it an attack on the peace and stability of the country. “Terrorists are the enemies of the nation’s peace, and their cowardly acts are intolerable,” Zardari stated. He expressed his pride in the sacrifices of the police and military forces and offered his condolences to the families of the martyred officials.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the explosion, paying tribute to SP Operations Asad Zubair and the two other police officers who lost their lives. “The sacrifice of these brave officers will not go in vain,” Naqvi declared. He extended his heartfelt sympathy to the families of the martyrs, emphasizing that the nation remains indebted to their courage and sacrifice.
