LAHORE
A dignified prayer ceremony was organized by the Kashmir Centre Lahore at Masjid Bhag Ali Shah to mark the anniversary of the late Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah, a distinguished Kashmiri religious and political leader, prominent freedom activist, and former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The event drew large numbers of political, social, religious, and literary figures, scholars, students, and members of the Kashmiri community, all paying heartfelt tribute to Mirwaiz Molve Muhammad Yousuf Shah for his lifelong contributions to the Kashmir freedom movement, religious scholarship, and national struggle. Speakers at the occasion included prominent religious scholar and former member of the Legislative Assembly and Islamic Ideological Council Maulana Shafi Josh, PTI leader Farooq Azad, Kashmiri community leader Allama Mushtaq Qadri, PML-N leader Atif Mir, and Inam-ul-Hasan Kashmiri, in-charge of Kashmir Center Lahore.
They described Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah as one of the subcontinent’s most eminent religious leaders, a visionary politician, and a true representative of the Kashmiri people. He dedicated his life to safeguarding the political, religious, and social rights of Kashmiris and inspired younger generations with a spirit of freedom, self-respect, and religious awareness.
The speakers hailed him as a luminous figure in the history of the Kashmir freedom movement. Despite immense challenges and pressure, he consistently raised his voice for truth and justice, steadfastly championing the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. His leadership, vision, and sacrifices continue to guide and inspire the Kashmiri people.
They further emphasized that the struggle of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for their fundamental right to self-determination continues as a legacy of leaders like him. They pledged to continue efforts to highlight the just struggle of Kashmiris internationally and reaffirmed their unwavering support for their right to self-determination.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yousuf Shah and the martyrs of Kashmir, for the security of Pakistan, and for the early liberation of occupied Kashmir.
