PESHAWAR
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) provincial and central leadership are geared up for putting up its much-hyped power show in Peshawar here on Tuesday (today) in connection with the 54th party foundation day.
PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) president said that party workers and jialas from all parts of the county would join the public meeting. Besides senior leaders, party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also scheduled to address the public meeting.
A stage has also been constructed with containers, which has been decorated with the party’s banners and flags. Senior members of the party have reached Peshawar and urged the district’s presidents to make all out efforts for a successful power show.
The general secretary of PPP Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and other leadership of the party addressed a press conference at the residence of deputy information secretary Asma Alamgir.
Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said though the district administration had not yet issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for holding the function in the provincial capital, the party workers from all over the province would attend the gathering at all costs.
He said that holding of public meeting was a basic right in democratic countries, adding that the ‘incompetent’ rulers were scared of the growing popularity of the PPP.
Asma Arbab Alamgir, central secretary information Faisal Kareem Kundi, president Karachi division and Minister Syeed Ghani also addressed the press conference.
They said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had failed to deliver and that is why people from various walks of life were suffering for the last more than three years due spiraling prices and other problems.
Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said the PPP was the only party that could better lead the country to prosperity, development and peace.
“The PPP is the only option for people and the future of the country is Bilawal Bhutto. The people will vote in LG elections and general polls for the PPP since it is a true representative of the common man,” he added.
Speaking with media persons on his visit to proposed place for Jalsa Kabotter chwak here on Monday Najmuddin Khan the provincial president of PPP also criticized the PTI government for banning their foundation day meeting.
He said by banning the meeting in Peshawar, the PTI provincial government has adopted cheap tactics but it could not stop their jiyalas.
The meeting will be held at every cost and the “selected” rulers could not block the activities of the elected popular leaders, he added.
Najmuddin said the PPP would exercise its democratic rights and continue the struggle for the achievement of people rights through democratic means.
