Strict enforcement of revised speed limits on National Highways and Motorways continues: MP

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has initiated strict and effective enforcement of the revised speed limits on national highways and motorways as directed by the Government of Pakistan. According to the spokesperson of the Motorway Police, the objective of this measure is to ensure efficient energy utilization, promote fuel conservation, and maintain safe and smooth traffic flow on highways.
The spokesperson stated that indiscriminate action is being taken against violators of the newly prescribed speed limits. In the last 24 hours, more than 6,000 traffic tickets have been issued for speeding violations. Officers and personnel of the Motorway Police are continuously patrolling motorways and national highways to ensure compliance with traffic laws and to safeguard the journeys of road users.
To enhance public awareness, the spokesperson further informed that more than 1,100 traffic signboards and awareness banners have been installed at prominent locations, including motorways, national highways, toll plazas, and key interchanges across the country. These signboards are intended to provide clear guidance to drivers regarding the revised speed limits and traffic regulations.
In addition, officers and personnel of the Motorway Police are actively engaging with road users at national highways, motorways, toll plazas, and other important points to inform them about the changes in speed limits. Drivers are being advised to strictly adhere to the prescribed limits in order to reduce road accidents and ensure safer travel.
The spokesperson also highlighted that, to further strengthen the road safety awareness campaign, continuous information regarding speed limits is being disseminated through social media, electronic media, and other digital platforms.
The purpose of this campaign is to emphasize that compliance with traffic laws is essential for ensuring safe travel for all road users.
The spokesperson clarified that the revision in speed limits has been implemented in accordance with the directions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, keeping in view the need for efficient energy consumption and fuel conservation.
The Motorway Police has appealed to the public to strictly observe the prescribed speed limits and practice safe driving on national highways and motorways to help protect precious human lives.
