PESHAWAR
Advisor to Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Babar Saleem Swati on Saturday directed quarter concerns to ramp up security in the provincial capital and other major cities of the province on Christmas in order to avoid any untoward incident and protect the lives and property of the minority community.
He asked the police force and other law enforcement agencies to not overlook the possible security threats and to remain vigilant to maintain law and order on the Christmas celebrations across the province.
According to details , Advisor to Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Babar Saleem Swati has been informed that at least 1300 police officials were deployed for security of at least 52 churches in Peshawar. It added that 105 police personnel will be deployed on special check posts in the metropolitan area.
In order to provide security to minorities and conducting their festivals safely are among the priorities of the provincial government, Adviser to CM Babar Saleem added.
The Christian community of the province will celebrate Christmas across the country on Sunday (today) like elsewhere in the world.
In churches, special services will take place where prayers will be offered for peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Christmas festivities began with the Midnight Services where worshipers offered prayers for peace and stability of the country. The community members exchange gifts and among these gifts, Christmas cake has a special significance.
