Summit for minority youth condemns Jaranwala incident

ABBOTTABAD: In order to highlight the leadership skills among the minority youth, a three-day Minority Youth Leaders’ Summit was organized.
The summit was organized by the Minority Affairs Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The young male and female students of Malakand and Hazara Division minority community participated.
A minute’s silence was observed to express solidarity with the victims of Jaranwala. Father Nasir Williamwas the chief guest of the ceremony.
In the three-day summit, sessions, trainings and lectures of eminent personalities from various walks of life were organized. Training and activities were conducted by eminent trainers on leadership, leadership qualities, contemporary problems and their appropriate solutions. A special note talk was held on emotional intelligence for the youth. The role and importance of the minority community and especially the youth in the country’s development was discussed.
Mian Asjid, Monitoring officer, while speaking on the occasion strongly condemned the Jaranwala incident and termed it an unfortunate incident.
He said that Islam has established the best rights and protection system for minorities and ordered fraternal relations with minorities.
The constitution of Pakistan has ensured the protection of the rights of minorities, he added and said that the white color in the green crescent flag of Pakistan represents the minorities.
According to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, minorities in Pakistan will have complete freedom and will be able to live according to their religious beliefs.
Planning officer of the Minority Affairs Department Sahibzada Haider Jan said that the provincial government is taking steps for the development and prosperity of minorities.
Under the planning, resources have also been allocated for the welfare of the minorities of the province.
Sahibzada Haider Jan further said that special attention has been given to the youth of the minority community in the annual development program.
Educational Scholarship for Youth, Skills Development Scheme, Small Business Grants, Youth Adventure Trip are included, he said and added that the process of construction and repair of the places of worship of the minority community is going on while residential colonies are also being constructed along with the places of worship.
Sahibzada further said that it is hoped that all these measures will reduce the problems of the minority community. Youth will get better training and employment opportunities will be created.
Chief Guest father Nasir William thanked the participants, minority community leaders, speakers, trainers, media, police, staff and consultants for providing excellent services for the summit.
Commemorative shields were distributed at the end of the summit and the participants waved the national flag on the stage along with national songs and gave a message of peace.
